Managing hundreds of storage server arrays spread across different data-centers and locations is not an easy task. HPE Vega combines two separate applications to manage Hardware Components and create and manage File Shares and Storage allocations.
Target Users
The typical users are Storage and IT Admins in Large Enterprises with many Server Arrays spread across multiple locations. The number of Server Arrays may vary from 10 to 100s. In some cases, over a thousand Servers spread across different data-centers.
My Role
- Work with stakeholders to create a UX Strategy
- Facilitate & lead User Research
- Complete involvement in all aspects of the UX and UI Design Facilitate, manage User Testing
- Ensure the quality of UX and Visual Design
- Ensure timely design hand-off to Engineering Team Continuous UX support during and after product release
User Research
Extensive user research with 53 user interviews with 15 sponsor users regularly participating in follow-up interviews, design validations, Usability Testing, and A/B Testing.
What Stood Out?
The user research made us realize the changing landscape of enterprise storage.
- More than half of the users are not Storage Specialists
- Users prefer to see details and reasons for any AI recommendations
- Need for a better support system
- Need for dashboard personalization to serve different usecases
- Address the emerging role of Applications + Storage Admins Need for a proactive alert system
- Troubleshooting workflows in most enterprise storage applications are difficult to understand.
- Onboarding many systems to the existing tools are hard and prone to errors

Based on the user research, the data was captured into 4 different personas that encompasses the common traits, needs and frustrattions of our end-users.
